    Exclamation Scale rot?

I've been paranoid recently when I discovered scale rot. My ball python is about nine months old I guess. I've had him since he was a baby. He is currently shedding, so I don't know if it could be related. He's been having a hard time shedding do some sites suggested a bath. That's when I saw blood by his anal flap. I only saw it once, so maybe it was nothing. But when I was searching online I saw belly rot and got very scared. I've been thinking of taking him to a vet, but I don't want unnecessary vet charges if I can fix it myself.

I can't post a picture but his underbelly is pinkish and there are some brownish spots. I know that's not much but I don't have authority to post a picture.

The humidity is at 60 but sometimes it oes down to 50. I have a heating pad under the tank and the temp says between 75 and 78.

Does the heating pad have a thermostat? Pink belly means 1 of 2 things, shedding or burn.

A little bit of blood by the vent after a shed is perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about. Unfornatly without pictures I can't help much more. (are you sure you can't upload pictures to photobucket, then copy the "direct link" code and paste it into a post here on BP.net to get a picture up?

You could even email me a picture and I will post it for you if you really can't post pictures. ( the.serpent.merchant@gmail.com )

Do you know the exact temperature of the heating pad?
My albino had 'brown spots' on his belly during one shed cycle. It shed off during the next shed, but I thought it was scale rot too at first. And Like Aaron said, pink belly = shed or burn.
All ball pythons' bellies turn pink right before they shed.

That prolly was scale rot, as albinos should never have brown spots on them even during shedding. Minor scale rot can shed away over time when given proper setup

Yeah. When I first got him, he had the tips of 2 scales turn brown. It was so small and only lasted a week or two, I was unsure at the time.
