I read somewhere that only like 31% of the money raised actually goes to the children in uganda...
Anyone else hear this or can clarify?

I heard that it was 25%. I don't have actual proof to back that up though.

Imo
why do Americans believe that this is an American government issue, is this Not why the United Nations was formed.. to deal with injustice for all of humanity.
why do we insist that every issue we have to be throwing our weight around just to say we can. this is exactly why the rest of the worlds views of us are so jaded.
is what kony is doing wrong? Yes
should he be punished? yes
is it the USA job to stop kony? NO, can we help ? yes will we help depends on the people of Uganda
do we need to fund a grass roots project to help? maybe
but this man has been on the most wanted list for a long time
the people of Uganda and other African countries should do something.
take a stand
you cant expect America to solve your problems for you

I watched that video for the first time last night. All I could think about was about 12 hours before watching it I was complaining about my job and annoyed because my apartment was a mess. I felt so guilty, the things we worry about, worry ourselves sick about sometimes, is so minimal compared to this. No one should have to live like that...
Rob_D, just because it isn't an "American issue" doesn't mean we don't have (at the very least) a moral obligation to help. We don't have to step in to every little issue with other countries, but thousands...THOUSANDS of children being kidnapped in their sleep, forced to kill their parents, mutilate other children and rape little girls....this is a huge problem...like....Hitler huge problem. If you ask me, this is one of the very few things the government has actually done right lately, meaning jumping in and sending some help there.
All I know is this guy better get caught, I don't care if it's the Uganda government, American government, or anyone. If anyone can do this, it's us. I'd be horrified if this kind of thing happened here, and my son had to go to sleep every night scared to death that he was going to be taken away.
End rant. Not sure I care what percentage actually goes to Uganda. It can't be cheap to make the products, fly support to Africa, etc etc.

I'm really not trying to offend anyone but all I can think about is the movie Team America World Police when I think of people demading that our government "save" other countries from their own monsters. *can't get that theme song out of my head now*

I am not sure why this is an issue now. Mr. Kony has been on the run since 2008 when the local military went after him. All of the pictures and footage in the video are from before 2008.
So while he was a tyrant, he's not currently relevant now as far as I can tell.
It's certainly nothing we need to be sending troops in for. Uganda's own army should be able to clean his remnant up in time.
They should have made and published this years ago for it to be truly effective.

There are over 30 million people in Uganda. They can stand up against their own local terrorists. If you want to help... then help, but don't expect big daddy America to go and save the day every time some distant butthole is allowed by his own country to kill people. We are not the world police.
