GTP breeders and dealers and other resources?
My dad and I salvaged an abandoned aquarium today and it is in the perfect condition for housing a green tree python. Good amount of vertical space, decently wide, it'd make a fantastic set up, all that's missing is a top for it which shouldn't be hard to find. I've always had a great interest in keeping GTPs but thus far, only have experience in keeping ball pythons, corn and indigo snakes so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to point me in the right direction to some good info sites on GTPs. I've found a few places but their information is pretty general and I'd like something a bit more extensive.
I was also wondering who the reputable GTP breeders/dealers are out there. I've seen some sold on Backwaterreptiles and a few other miscellaneous reptile sites but they don't seem to ever have a particularly wide variety or their animals are always out of stock.

Oh, that site looks really good and they've got a lot of animals listed!
And I've just put an order for that book, thanks for the info.

No problem. Do lots and lots of research on them. They can be a little more advanced than balls as far as husbandry is concerned. A very different temperament/behavior as well. Definitley gorgeous animals though.

Yes, I have heard that they can be a bit of a handful at first for those who aren't as acquainted with some of the more advance pythons out there but once you get them all settled and what such, they do splendidly.
It's just a matter of getting over that whole learning curve I would presume.

Yes the are I have a 5ft Aru islands GTP, and he is so different, He is great and loves to be held. But is so different. I also have Maxwell book a very good read. This GTP is all over the board. has never stap, or anything, buts grounds himself sometimes, Made friends with his dinner so I had to take it out , he even laid on top of it head to head both sleeping. Out of all my snakes he is the one how always keeps me guessing and on my toes. But over the last 3 weeks he had it a little tough so I will be kind. If you get one, You will love it. Read Maxwell book about the best type to get on where you what a show snake or one you can hold and enjoy. Each one does HAVE a Different temperment.

I purchased my first GTP from Rocky Gravley The Arboreal Enthusiast. He has been absolutely wonderful. Very professional and prompt with replies and just all around great. And my GTP, Hunter, is perfect too. Rocky loves chatting GTPs and will happily talk to you if you have any questions about the species whether you buy from him or not.
And some GTPs do have really nice temperaments. As already stated, they are not BPs, but they can be really handlable. It helps if you purchase a juvenile or young adult and not a neonate when you can evaluate their temper ahead of time. This is Hunter with Rocky's 8 year old son.
