Waaay too small of a cage for a pair of adult geckos.

The female is probably underweight from being housed with a male constantly and not being given a break from breeding, or maybe they were housed together since they were young and she became gravid and started laying eggs too young. And as stated the male could also have been dominating or bullying her, especially in that tiny tank. Either way they should be separated and should stay separated. Not too cool of the fiance's coworker to house them together in the first place, being that they were told by the breeder not to breed the female due to her underbite. They probably got a pet quality gecko price because of the underbite but put her with a male anyhow. But anyways, I'm glad that you have them and can take proper care of them now.
