So, Wednesday I take my Blazer in for the mandatory Commonwealth of Virginia annual vehicle inspection. I took it to a local brake repair shop that does inspections as well. The guy get it up on the rack and starts the inspection, about 30 minutes into it he calls me out there to show me that my front brakes are out of spec and tells me the vehicle is going to fail. But, since it's my lucky day, and since they aren't very busy, he'd be able to replace the pads in no time, and, he'd already written up an estimate...Really? No crap! Should have seen that one coming... $225 later, plus the cost of the inspection, I'm Commonwealth legal again.

Then this morning I was driving back from my standard morning cycling group ride, and I get pulled over by one of York County's finest for speeding. Now mind you, I was going with the flow of traffic in the middle of a pack of 7 cars, but the guy with the bike on his roof gets pulled over, probably because he's easy to track...again, really? They teach you that junk in cop school, do they?

That's just fine Commonwealth of Virginia...suck all the money you can while you still have the chance. 59 more days before I head back to the Great Sunshine State and I will never darken the door of this freakin' place again...

I feel your pain. I took my car in for inspection yesterday and my rear brakes "barely passed inspection." As he said, "if I had come in a week later I wouldn't have passed." So I'm getting my brakes replaced tomorrow.

Aaron, I was born and raised in Gainesville, but left 27 years ago when I joined the Air Force. After retirement I thought I'd give Virginia a try since I was offered a good job...I tried it...I'm done now, and am going home. Probably should have done this 4 years ago.

Lucky enough my paps a mechanic and I just by the parts and we put them on. I had a week similar to that last month.
