    Male & Female fight

I recently put my pastel lesser male in with my big normal girl. They both were very curious of each other & throughout the day checking on them they were laying together & I saw him doing this little jerking movement with his head on her back so I figured that was a good sign. I checked on them before bed & there was blood all over the tub, so I of course panicked. I couldn't ever find out who was bleeding and from where but it was all over the paper towels & the sides. It seemed odd with that much blood that I couldn't find a wound or where it came from.

Just wondering if that is normal? I am afraid to put them back together now because I would hate for something to happen to either. She's about 3000 grams & he is 700 so she would win the battle. He has been producing sperm plugs so I figured I would try and see what would happen.

Also I am sure they are male/female.

    Thanks!

Sometimes there will be some blood when breeding. Did you take any photos?
Are you sure it was a fight?

    Re: Male & Female fight

It is very common for them to leave blood trails during breeding. Its from protruding and rubbing their sex organs on the tub to scent the tub in order to attract each other. If you cant find any injuries this is likely the source of the blood. Plus I have never seen a male and female fight eachother. This is a good sign that someone was interested and that there was possibly some action.

Nice thanks! I didn't take any pictures of it. It was left in trails but there were big spots as well & on the sides of the tubs. I haven't checked any of there organs. Didn't even think about that. You all think it would be ok to put them back then?

It should be fine to put them back together.

You may want to check his hemipenes to see if they are ok before reintroducing. I'm sure they are fine but you never know and if your worried it will give you peace of mind. If you just had them together I'd wait a few days before putting him back in.

Haha I feel like a dweeb. I was panicked when I saw it, all I could think of was looking in and see her with a big bulge & him gone.

I popped him he seems fine to me, I will give him a few days then put him back in.

Thanks all! I read up a lot on breeding but don't remember reading anything about the blood part.

Hopefully I will get lucky this year.
