How long do your boas go off food this time of year?

I have a female Dum (about six years old- said the vet) that is a rescue I took on in May. From the beginning she ate like a garbage disposal even during medical treatments. She put on really good weight (I got her up to 15.2 Lbs). When the weather turned colder she stopped eating. I know that this happens during this season (I'm trying to take it as a sign that she feels better from the condition I got her in). I can't help but be nervous as its now been 100 days since her last meal. She acts just fine. No signs of any stress and has only lost 2 oz. I offer her live and f/t but she just flicks her tung and ignores it.

How long does this behavior last for? Is there something I can do to encourage her? Advice? Reassurance?

I have been looking for reassurance as well. I have a small male, and a young female. The male has not eaten since August...though he was sold to me as "a great eater"....the female had eaten about ten times before going off food. She has JUST started to sneak over to the warm side of her tank and become active. He however, is just coiled up on the cold side.

I admit i got worried a few weeks ago, as he seemed to be getting a little thinner. We did something we heard of called "tailing" where we took a mouse tail, and stuck it in the corner of his mouth...he opened his mouth, and then i stuck it all the way IN his mouth. He held it there for a while, then began to swallow it. I did this twice.
I have not noticed him pooping or peeing...(which totally has me freaked) BUT he did SHED just yesterday, so i know his metabolism started again. A good sign. I'm hoping now that it may be getting warmer they will become active!

I specifically looked up dumeri's boas and got a male and female from different lines, so I could breed them some day to keep captive breds in the pet trade, rather than encourage imports. But these have turned out to be the most boring, and worrisome snakes ever *lol* Beautiful snakes, but they have been driving me nuts with worry!

She's active at night like they get when hungry. She's just not hungry. She's not head shy but if you try to force her mouth open you had better have help. She had a cut that had to be flushed out often when we got her. I don't want to force her because she isn't ill and losing weight. I just want to know what is typical and what I should expect. What I should look out for...

Um, Never. I've never even heard of boas going off feed. I could be wrong though.

My male Albino went off food this year for about 3-4 months or so. It is common especially adults to go off feed. He hasnt been with a female for 1 month or so and is beginning to eat slowly. You can try to raise the temps in the cage to try to convince them breeding seasons over.
