Lightbulb Free hides from Wal-Mart !!!

THey guys and gals just thought I'd let yall in on my free hide secret...lol... If you needs lots of hides do this... Go to your local Wal-Mart, talk to a Mgr. About getting some empty black plastic flower buckets from Produce dept. Take what you need..lol.. Remember 1 bucket gets you 2 hides.. They look like this after cutting them how you like them...

I typicaly hot glue indoor/outdoor carpet to the outside which helps hold moisture... Try it out and enjoy the freebe...

Good idea, but I wouldn't use them. They seem a bit exposed and the edges are quite jagged.

The pics are of the unfinished pieces, once you cover with the carpeting or moss the edges are covered and they are less exposed then the ol half log hides... But to each their own..

I wouldnt use them. You cant really get them all the way clean. Even if you use a bleach solution i would be worried that i wouldnt be able to get all of the bleach washed out of the carpet stuff.

I personally wouldn't use it either. I agree that it seems over exposed. The opening is too large for a ball to feel truely secure. Maybe put a little overhang with that extra cloth to look like a tent opening or something?

Considering that I don't use hides at all, I would say those are a good idea, and very economical......

    Brilliant!

Remember to clean it SUPER well to remove all traces of fertilizer. Be aware of any drain holes that a snake might get stuck in! These hides would be great in bins and racks, since the snake doesn't usually need much int he way of hides.

The long narrow nature of the split pot would make it more secure feeling and it's not open on both ends the way those half logs are.

I like it! People who don't want to use them certain don't have to, but it's a great idea for free hides(although if you cover them in carpet, they aren't free anymore). The carpet is washable, and you could technically put them through the dishwasher(unless I miss my guess on the plastic) which would sanitize them.

Also, you could use small pots split for geckos!
