I hope you had the right anti venom on hand! I had my mother in law over and she saw my new normal and she freaked out
"your keeping a venomous python in the house with your kids?" it's pretty funny how little people know about these great animals, but anyway hope you got that anti venom in time

Me too.
When I tell people I have snakes, one of their first questions is "Don't they bite? What do you do if they bite you?" I always just shrug and say "same thing if your cat scratched you. Wash it off and... well, nothing else." It is funny how much that freaks people out.

I just saw an ignorant owner selling his 'de-fanged' female ball on Craigslist to prevent injury......

Dab some peroxide in it and I'm sure you will live.
My mom is an RN and thankfully knows enough to know that ball pythons are not venomous, but because she is an RN, she has seen the horrors of all kinds of infected animal bites and therefore is terrified that my snake will bite me and I will lose an arm. Yes, that can happen with a raging secondary infection. Very rare worst case scenario, but yeah sure, it is possible, just not probable. I showed my mom that I have a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and and a tube of Neosporin under my sink for such an emergency like a ball python bite. Yeah, peroxide and Neosporin, seeerrrrious supplies there.
But, it is very true that when such a simple measure as a dab of two cheap drug store products can make a HUGE different in outcome if you happen to be unlucky, we would all be dumb not to use them. Any one of us who happened to end up in the ER with a secondary infection after a bite that we didn't bother to clean would just be affirming our friends and family's fears. So let's all proudly show off our battle wounds to each other, but don't skip out on 90 seconds of basic first aid!
0.1 - Normal ball python, Zola
