Yeah, I went to pick up a blood python, but this little girl decided that she was going home with me. Anna comes home from her class at 5:30 so I'll find out then

My little girl seems to be a puppy, she is a little jumpy but that is to be expected the first day in a new home.

One more thing, I have notice our Dumeril's can be a shy eater. She dislikes F/T and prefers F/K. A sure tell sign she is hungry is she will defecate, burrow for a few days, and not move. Then I dangle the food above her head with tongs and she explodes out from the substrate. Be prepared because it flies everywhere and makes a mess (another reason I don't like cypress). Other times she will be in her hide and I have to leave it in there on a paper plate, with her cage light off, and then leave the room. 10min later it's gone.

Good luck! Get ready to have a new favorite in your collection.
thanks, I'll keep that in mind. She ate for me before I left the shop... so far so good

I don't have a dumerils but I have a nic and a red tail and they both have Cyprus mulch. And I must once a day or every other day but I have never had it get dusty on me tho. Mabey if u never most but my redtail likes to burrow so keep that in mind. A foot is fine for height.

I keep my Dum on aspen as well because it is easier to spot clean the frequent urinations. Mine is about 4 years old, and I haven't really noticed him doing much burrowing, but he does use his hides, especially when in shed. He does like to hide behind his hides and prop his head up on his water bowl when I am in the room. If I stand still for a few minutes, he will start moving around his cage, but once I move, he will freeze and prop his head up to watch me again. Maybe it's just a silly game we play. He does seem to be the most sociable of my snakes. I rarely have to use a hook on him. Most of the time I just open the cage and hold up my hand and he will come right out to me. He was a shy eater for about the first 2 months, and then all of a sudden his true feeding response came out. Don't get lulled into a false sense of security if she starts off as a shy eater. One day, she might suprise you.

Congratulations on a nice looking little female...
