Vermiculite or hatch rite?

Not sure if I am asking in the right section or not. Got my incuabotor ready to go. Have the Sim incubator containers. Question is should I use vermiculite or hatch rite? If I understand correctly if I use hatch rite I don't need to mix in any water that it is pre-mixed?

Does not matter any medium can be used, I would use vermiculite as hatchrite is much more expensive.

Since the eggs do not come in contact with the substrate it will not matter you will not have to worry whether or not your substrate contains the right amount of water or is too moist.

Therefore you can use anything holding humidity, perlite, vermiculite etc.

I suggest not wasting your money on hatch rite as its over priced GARBAGE.I used it last season and lost the eggs due to not having enough humidity.In my opinion you should not have to add any water when it claims you dont need to.So use perlite or vermiculite and PLEASE look at the bags and make sure IT DOES NOT have fertilizer in it.As i found out last year some of them do have it added.

I havent bred yet but yes from what i have read on here make sure that there is NO fertilizers whatsoever in vermiculite.

Garden centers usually carry vermiculite...it's easy to use and cheap.

I got my perlite from Walmart and vermiculite from Lowes. you will have to make a few trips around to find the ones without added crap in it. Try and find the all natural ones that has no fertilizer. I just use 50/50 mix of it. never had a problem with humidity before
