To my knowledge tapeworms don't infest reptiles but their eggs can pass through them via their prey items.

I saw that episode last year and IIRC the foundation was cracked as well as the pipes running through it and that's how the snake juices were getting in the water. The only way to get rid of them was the tear down the house and rebuild.
