    Sooo what is breeding season?

    I have a BP that isn't eating and I suspect breeding season is the reason (haha, it rhymes...). How long is breeding season? When does it end? For those whose snakes go off feed, when do they typically start eating again?

    sorry to hijack, but while we are on the subject of newbie question, here is one i havent asked but wanted to for a while, what does it mean when you put 0.0.1 or 0.1, 1.0 etc etc in your listing of BP's? is it age? weight?

    also i'am curious as to when the "off feed" season ends. I figuered since my BP cant watch the weather chanel its when its hot ALL the time for them, cuz i know sometimes even with the heat lamp and UTH (with thermostat of course) at full blast the highest i can get my ambient temp is 76 on a real cold winter day when the heat in my apt is off. And in the summer time when he was guzzling down mice AND rats, it never ever got under 79-80 degress no matter what.

    1.0= 1 male, 0.1= 1 female, 0.0.1= 1 snake of unknown sex. So 1.2.3 means 1 male, 2 females, and 3 unknown.

    Typically balls tend to go off feed during the cooling phases of breeding season. But you can breed anytime of the year. I have my females set up in groups. A fall group, spring group and summer group so i can breed year round. I only cool my fall group. The other groups just breed and stay on feed till the deed is done

    Interesting. Do you find the most success in a particular season? Im pretty sure i was tlking to you about this in another thread too. I mentioned springs bad weather would probably be good for breeding.

    It really depends. Last spring was really good and usually the fall into winter has always been great but this year its been really slow due to the warm winter. I have a couple clutches in the walk in now and a bunch of girls getting ready to drop. The past 2 weeks have really heated up with alot of breeding action.

    Wow, that was some super blatant hijacking! Hahaha! The second question was the one I really wanted to ask, though, and you put it in to words better than I did, so all is forgiven.
