Bandit the Ferret-Rat
My cool silver husky-marked girl had a litter a good while back, including a very neat baby that looked to be almost tri-colored. I expected him to grow out of it as he grew up, but I was wrong! I think he looks like a ferret, hence the name, lol.
As a baby:
Today:
I'm going to try breeding him back to his mom, just to see what those babies will look like (and I know that husky-mark and high white have a high risk of issues but worst case scenario is the babies all get fed off anyways).

Nice rattie. I've had a few sort of that color. I'm always debating holding back rats, but have settled for holding back females only except in really rare cases.

Looks to me like some kind of pointed rat, with molting lines if anything.

Wolfy - I'm pretty bad about holding back rats, lol, but my 2 main stud males were already older when I started breeding, so I was able to rationalize holding back a couple really nice boys from my early litters (Bandit, and then Rico who's black with a perfect triangle blaze on his face). Plus I have to grow out some rats to adult size for my friend's Nicaraguan anyway :3
Rhasputin- His mom had pretty obvious molting lines for a while so I expected Bandit's color to even out, I just thought it would have happened already. He is only about 3 and a half months old though, so he's still got plenty of time.

Yeah. Sometimes the temperature and humidity effect the molting. Do you keep them in the same room as your reptiles?

Yeah, the whole lot of us (me, rats, snakes, and fish) are all in an unfinished basement at the moment, the ambient humidity is usually around 40%. The space heater is with the snakes and rats so their ambient temp is generally at 70-74 (snakes are in tubs, so their temps and humidity stay higher).

That's probably part of it.
I know in my animal room, in the more humid summer the ASFs molt like crazy, I'll have half bald things running around with 4 different colours, and in the winter, it's like someone came in and changed out all my crazy critters for normal ones.
