I have never tried that.
It might make cleaning a little harder though.
Could you possibly glue them to the outside looking in?
I only think of this because I was at petco the other day and saw a product for fish tanks. It looked like a glue stick if I remember right to glue the backgrounds on. It said it dried on clear.
