What do "normal" people do with dry ice?

I got the 21 questions at the grocery store the other day while buying less than a pound of dry ice. The girl apparently wanted to have a conversation.

Cashier- "What are you doing with it?"

Me-"Just a project for a class at UF..."

    Cashier-"What kind of project?"

Me-"Uuh... Just an extra credit project..."

    Cashier- "Ooh. For what class?"

I think I sighed a little too loud and she mistook my stumped eye boggle for something rude. I didn't really want to tell her I was Co2ing 30 something rats and sticking them in my freezer for later.

They also like to ask me how old my "child" is when I am buying size 1 diapers. I have to tell them it's for the Opossum. I really hope I don't look like I just spit out a kid.

So, what do normal people do with dry ice that isn't going to lead to a lot of questions?

    Make dry ice bombs...

Or they use it to chill meat, ship perishables, make spooky punch or pop dents out of cars.

I've become very adept at telling people that what I purchase is none of their business. Very politely I might add.

Though I have recently started asking people what they would do with *insert product* and tell them that whatever they come up with is exactly what I'm doing with it. No matter how weird. I love the looks I get.

There is nothing any normal person can do with dry ics... it's reserved for mad scientists, special effects crews, and us reptile owners

I'm a magician who uses it as a prop. Honestly, dry ice is just fun to play with.. Try putting some in a cup of water and add a drop of dish detergent for a groovy, bubbling, volcanic thingamabob!
