I think it's a great policy. You should never bee handling a snake that isn't eating, it just causes even more stress. Make sure your tank/tub is set up perfectly. Usually the culprit is the snake not feeling secure in the enclosure. Make sure there isn't a lot of open space, if you need to move it to a smaller enclosure do it. The hides need to be really snug, the snake should have to ball up and be a little squished inside. You can also put crumpled newspaper in the enclosure and inside the hide to help fill up the open space. I do that will all my new babies and hatchlings.
