While I was never a Whitney fan I am a bit shocked by some of these comments. Somebody started a thread titled "RIP (person)" and people almost immediately start bashing the dead. I'm not much of a Bible reader either but there's some such verse about not throwing rocks at someone unless you yourself are faultless. We've all made mistakes, that's how we grow and learn. Fallibility is one of our defining characteristics as humans, just some make larger mistakes than others and rebound faster too. I think some of us could learn a bit of compassion(not necessarily for the deceased but perhaps towards those for whom she will be missed). Now I realize from reading this thread that some of you are very passionate about drug use and that's awesome, I'm 100% anti drug too. I'm also convinced this thread is not the proper venue for a "flaming Whitney Houston" extravaganza.
My condolences to those who are saddened by the passing of Whitney Houston.

I am sorry to those who miss her. But don't we have freedom of speech, aren't we entitled to opinions????? To each his own.

Weird, seems my last response didn't take.. To answer your question, we certainly do have freedom of speech. I was just saying there is a time and a place and I doubt this is what the OP intended when they started a thread titled "RIP Whitney". You are free to start your own "let's bash Whitney" thread or continue hating here. You are free to portray yourself in whatever light you wish.

I'll agree with you.. it is a RIP one.. BUT I didn't bash myself. I merly commented on how we see celebrities as "gods" now a days.. And it blows my mind.. I know she died, but you have all these people who HATE her following the crowd saying "RIP!" And they lie... THAT... is what angers me...
But yes... I do agree......
Re-reading my post it seems like that, I wasn't bashing her, merely all these "followers"

Just because you are allowed to speak, doesn't mean you always should. To everyone who has been bashing the dead, have a little respect.

You don't know how she died yet, and no matter what it looks like it could turn out to be something else not related so lay off.
 R.I.P Whitney
Past history will always define a person, she was a crackhead no matter how you look at it.

I wont get into my person history here BUT any addictions can be over come IF you want to.

I have no sympathy over any drug abusers regardless if their on tv or not using it for an excuse of hard times.
Money doesnt always make you happy, especially if you are alone in life. Either physically or mentally.

I dislike this argument. They live very different lives than we do. Michael Jackson made who knows how much money.. would you say that he didn't have a hard life because of his messed up childhood?
Not condoning her drug use, but there is always more to it than meets the eye.
Don't take your privacy for granted.
They know the cost but want the fame, it is still a choice they make.

That IS Dollys song and always will be.

Would those of you who judge Whitney Houston say that you have no sympathy for my friend and her family because she "brought it on herself"?
I'm sorry - money does NOT make someone happy. If it does, that makes someone very shallow to say that money is enough to make you a happy person. Does it relieve a lot of financial stress? Yes it does. But does it bring happiness into your life? No, it does not.
None of us have had the same life experience that Whitney Houston did. To stand in judgement of her and her ultimate demise is pathetic at best. All of you judging her and her manner of death, you have led a pristine life that allows you to be so judgemental? None of you have made poor choices in your life that you regret? None of you have experienced clinical depression?
She left behind a mother, a daughter, family members who love her. And that's tragic. Just as the death of our hero's in the military is tragic, just as the death of my beloved friend is going to be tragic.
I'm shocked by the lack of compassion in this thread and the vitriol I've read. Seriously.
Would I feel sorry for your friend? No (We all bring on our vices, I smoked for 20ish years knowing the possible outcome) Will I feel sorry for her family? Yes, because they are going to have to watch her die a slow horrible death, she is not just going to go to sleep and not wake up. I am not bashing you but I am just a person that accepts death and the reasons why it happens.

Respect is a word that is thrown around a lot. Remembering a persons history can be viewed as a sign of respect, weather good or bad.
I sure quoted a lot here
Either way, some may miss her, I will not mainly because she did not have an impact on my family or my life. She died doing what she loved best be it either singing or smoking.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how calling a spade a spade shows a lack of compassion. Facts by their very nature can not be perdudicial. The woman killed herself via her own actions.

They haven't even released the autopsy results yet. You have no facts, unless you have some sort of special access that no one else does?

When a person gets ejected through the windshield of their car, it's no great leap of faith the say they weren't wearing a seat belt...even with out autopsy results
And it is a fact that the woman was a drug addict, and not just any drug addict...she was the kind of drug addict that other drug addicts looked at and decided to sobber up.

My point exactly! Not everyone wins their battle though. Seems a lot of folks here have already passed judgement and the official cause has not even been released. I wont say anymore Rabernet already stated it really well...
