I need help I am at a loss for what to do my Ball python hasnt eaten in 2 months! I know that isnt "that" long and he has always had feeding issues this is the longest Im just concerned he may be loosing weight. The only thing I changed was his heat because it is cold here and I was having an issue maintaining temps I now use a 75 watt heat bulb and the under tank heater it may be too much but the temps seam to be Ok now. This snake goes crazy when I cook any meat product and he must be hungry I feed FT and was thinking on trying a live ( I really dont want to) rat !

Does the UTH have a thermostat regulating it? How are you measuring temperatures/humidity? And finally what type of cage do you have?

This time of year BP's tend to go off feed anyway but if your temperatures/humidity aren't right that can make things worse.

I would not advise switching to live feeding just yet. Sometimes they can be very hard to switch back. Make sure your husbandry is spot on and give it some time. If you're stressing over weight loss, head to your local office supply store and pick up a digital scale. They aren't that expensive, but worth their weight in gold to a snake keeper.

You can get a scale at Walmart for 12$ but as far as ur snake not eating that's normal this time of year. Another thing u could try is putting mice bedding in with ur rat before u try feeding the snake. Also u could buy a live one and kill it right before u feed it to the snake so it's real fresh. I have done that before and it's worked wonders. Buy a food scale at Walmart and monitor weight tho to make sure ur snakes not losing weight. It may just be the time of year
