All tanks have lights, and UTHs, except Tarantula tank (no direct lighting, they shy from it)... I removed lights, thermometers, and wired probes for sake of better photos (besides I use red bulbs which wouldn't make a good photo).. They're all in the upper 80's (warm side), & right at 78.3 (cool side)...
hmmm.... I can see all of my snakes through their tubs, and ball pythons dont really like being on display

Wish I had a $ for everytime I've seen this logic.

Randy J, I have no doubt you like to see the kids...even when they're hiding. But here's the thing...and it's kinda' important. Ball Pythons are not display snakes. They hide for a reason.

lol, Yes I know this, just makes husbandry a little easier and the snakes seem to like it, thats all I'm saying. Never had issues using tubs but I have when I first started and wanted to SEE my snakes. Also, you can still see your snakes through tubs, but to each his own

Have fun with the Ri's or keeping humidity up is all I can say. Tubs all the way. Large 100 qt tubs are as nice as any tank, and I can see my guys just fine through them. Oh yeah whats more is I can open them and take the snake out to really enjoy lol. Why do you need to see it hiding so bad? Caylan.S.

LMAO, I also wish I had a $ for every time I've seen this response

Randy J, not trying to bust your chops. Keep your snakes anyway you see fit, Brother. Things that work, tend to work for a reason, but, as you point out the choice is yours.

I've only been using tubs/racks since I learned about them a few years ago and they sure make life easier. The 17 years before that though I used glass aquariums almost exclusively(had an old neodesha I got with a rescue and bought a vision in the 90s). Living in Florida like Randy I never had an issue keeping humidity up(it helps that I don't run central air) and for the few species that required super humidity a moist hide worked fine. One thing I always had for my terrestrial aquarium snakes though was super deep substrate. I'd fill an aquarium over halfway with aspen and they'd tunnel all over and create their own hides/security. With the caging options available today there's really no need to use fish aquariums but I still utilize some of those relics of my past that're laying around, more than one way to skin a cat ya know.

I have constant temps and humidity in all my tanks, w/ multiple hides, branches, foliage, and space to slither.. If my collection gets larger, then of course I would use a rack for the most part, but even then I'd keep a few on display... I'm not against the use of racks ( I've actually seen some nice set ups ), but with my small crew I don't see the need...
