I used to date an OR nurse that would pass out if she nicked herself while shaving her legs....this is the same woman who in the operating room had no issues with holding a severed leg...go figure

And that's a good point about the bacteria dying off, I've left it alone for several days thinking that might help. And he didn't poop on it or anything.
His "formal wear".....
[hmmm...I wonder if we could put bow ties on them?]
*Most* bacteria need moisture to survive.
I would think that after it's dried sufficiently, the bacteria would die off.
It's possible that sticking it in the oven at low temps might hasten the bacterial death rate.

For some reason, the shed skin really sicks me out. I use the tongs to get it out and check for eyecaps. (I also gag when I remove the dryer lint, though... so I'm just grossed out by odd things...) I can handle poop, pee, dead rats and their guts and blood- but the skin gets me.
You're weird.
[j/k!]

I can stand anything on earth except maggots.
I'm all creeped out now just because I typed the word.

Thank you!
Heee, I guess it kinda makes sense...sort of like fingernails or something (which I think are pretty gross!)

Oh my gosh a bp with a bow tie would be just too cute!
*nods* I'll leave the shed alone a little longer, then just bag it, I think.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I don't have a hygrometer yet, so I was judging the humidity by feel and trying to follow the recommendations on this site. I covered part of the screened top and had been misting 2-3x a day leaving some of the sides wet to evaporate. I made him a humid hide with some moss I kept moist, but whenever I checked he was in the hide on the warm end, so I'd just mist the underside of the hide gently before replacing it. Well, it seemed to feel humid and warm inside the tank, without the aspen being damp, so I'm glad it went ok! I need to get that temp/humidity gauge from Walmart which everyone seems to like.
(I live in FL and it's usually pretty humid already, so that may have helped out as well.)
Just pick up one of these at Walmart for $12. I live in Florida as well and I usually don't have any issues with humidity.
