Champagne females less expensive than males?
I could have sworn I saw this thread made before... Why are female champagnes less expensive than male champagnes?? I plan to produce some enchi combos in the far future, and the enchi-champagne is probably the only champagne combo i really like.. i'd like to produce more stuff involving that combo, but i feel like there's some secret behind champagne females T.T.. something along the desert female fiasco =x...?
Is it just that since it's a dominant gene, it will take 2 years to raise up, and the prices on the champagnes will quickly drop??

Yep. That's how it is with relatively new morphs. I actually just got a 700g champ female this morning. Its funny becaue with new stuff the males are usually a lot higher than females but then as soon as females put on a few grams they are just as expensive because they then become useful for breeding relatively soon. So I could say price has a lot to do with how soon they can breed. Males and females >500 are about the same where as females <500 are significantly less because they are over a year out from breeding

And no I don't think champagne prices will drop as fast as say spiders in the past year. They will some but they won't tank and the combos will still be highly valuable

Yup that's pretty much it. Doesn't necessarily mean quickly but they will drop to some extent.

The males are more expensive bc theyll reach sexual maturity in roughly 1/3 of the time of a female. Also because you can breed 1 male to multiple females. Therefore producing alot more of the morph.

I noticed that price discrepancy and thought it was a little odd (I feel like at this point in the game the females would be equal, at least, as so many folks have 3-4+ gene males to put to them), but yeah, I guess it's just that more folks want a male right now to plug into all of their adult co-dom females. It's always just gonna be supply and demand ...
I don't think there's any secret to them -- I can find a few references on here to folks producing nice healthy clutches from champ females (probably the most impressive example being this awesome gal here ...)

Most co-dom males start out more expensive. As others said, when you get in on the top layer of a morph, you want to make as many as possible as soon as possible. You buy a male, within a year or two you can make more (and by breeding multiple females) lots of them.
However, you gotta have the females for the supers, so eventually they become more expensive. If I want to make super pastels, I only need one pastel male, but if I want to make a lot, I need multiple pastel females. Hence the demand for females eventually can become higher.

In this case there is no Super, so I expect prices will continue to drop with males reaching the level of females in a few years.

i've seen that thread before =]. amazing clutch he produced!
I'm glad it's just the market doing it's thing. I completely understand how the market prices will change on these doms and co-doms, but I was expecting it to be something more than that.
@Blue Apple Herps - Hurry up and make some more of those amazing female butters T.T....
