    Question about AP flexwatt.

I'm getting ready to order a new cage (T8) from AP, and had a question about the heat tape. Does the tape come already wired? And will it be big enough to heat the whole cage, or will i need to purchase another source of heat for the cool side? Never used flexwatt before and it just says 11", not sure if that's just the width or what.

I actually have a Beophile enroute. I was told, if I keep my house below 72 degrees, which it is, then you should use under tank heating (WITH a thermostat, flexwatt without one WILL melt the plastic and burn your snake) and use a radiant heat panel.

What turned me off from AP was being told NOTHING comes set up, you have to put it all together yourself, and even wire the flexwatt I believe. You really can't go wrong with either, but buying a RHP may be beneficial to your snake if you keep your house below 72-75 degrees.

Maybe I should just get her a tub, I currently have her in a 29 gallon tank and it just gets way too cold on the cool side, and she stopped eating in October. What size tub would you suggest for around 700G?

I didn't want to spend the extra money heating a room. I realized that I had a room in the basement that had my furnace and hot water heater in it that was always warm. I put the racks in there with a fan to keep the heat moving around. It stays between 78 and 80 in there with no extra cost.

Tubs will not solve the heating issue they have no insulative value at all the ambient temps will be the room temp and it takes heroic effort to alter that. I would recommend the enclosure pick one there are a number on the market that are very good. The RHP is one way but I'd just try a fluorescent light first I find it adds 10-15º to the enclosure while on mine don't cool very quickly so they hold a lot of that over night.

This morning is my room is 66ºF and the sly plastics enclosure <same type of construction as boaphile,AP> is 78 ambient 80 cool and 90 hot. during the day the ambient builds and peaks at 83 maybe 85º the cool will build up to 80º and the hot stays stable it is always 90ºF

Would I be better off ordering the flexwatt separate from RBI? Seems like it would be cheaper, and it looks like they will even wire it for me! I'm assuming 2 feet is what I want?

Flex watt comes pre-wired from AP.
