    As the OP said check the shed to see next time before you throw it out. Never seen a shed get moldy and rancid before I would soak him if you think he has stuck eye caps but from the pic it doesnt look like it to me. I definately would not try to manually remove them, soak him and use a wet towel and gently wipe over his eyecaps after soaking him, if it is stuck caps they will most likely come off with ease. Good Luck. Also, was this a vet that is experienced with snakes? Ive come across many vets that lack knowledge in the exotic reptiles department.
