Lex is not drinking.

My baby beardie Lex is not drinking. I wiggled my finger in the water many times but he doesn't seem to be interested. I have been spraying him with water several times a day but I have not seen him lick or drink any water. I was thinking of getting a small waterfall for his cage but I don't know if they are safe for beardies. What do you think?

I wouldnt get a water fall for the cage because that can raise humidity in the cage which isnt good for beardies. I have 3 of them and they never actually drink from any water dish no matter if I move the water or not. The way I hydrate mine is I bathe them pretty often. They will absorb water and get hydrated that way. I bathe my 4 month old beardie daily and my 2 year and half yeard old dragons 2-3 times a week. They are all hydrated fine and actually started to enjoy the bath. Hope this helps.

Our beardie doesn't drink out of a bowl. We spray him and the wall of his enclosure daily and occasionally soak him. You can also offer hornworms as they can help with hydration. I've read that it's uncommon for beardies to drink out of bowls.

They usually won't drink from a bowl. This is why a weekly bath is recommended. They absorb water through the cloaca and they will sometimes drink the bath water. I turn the shower on and direct a bit of the spray on my dragons head using my hand. He then drinks the water as it goes down his face. He loves it.

In addtion to soaking every week or more I make sure mine greens and damp I wash them and then place them in the enclosure wet he often eats the wet greens and gets water that way they use very little water.

like everyone said, fairly normal for them to not drink from a bowl. I had one female that would go crazy gulping water from her dish and one that wont even look at one. Just soak them regularly and they'll be fine.

Good to know about the waterfall raising humidity. I hated to spend that kind of money on something he wouldn't use. When you all say "bath him" do you mean soaking him in a bowl of water? If so, warm or cold? I do spray him with water every day.

I fill up my bath tub with about an inch and half to 2 inches of water and let them soak for about 20 minutes. I monitor them the whole time and bathe each one of them indivually. I use warm water, but a little bit more on the hot side.

Same here. Use just enough water to come up to their sides so they dont have to swim the whole time. With little ones you can use the sink.
