    Do I need substrate?

Haha, I'm just sayin'... my normal just will not stay on top of it. He either balls it up in a corner or just gets under it. He is actually literally never on top of his substrate, except for the two minutes after I straighten it out and put him on it. I tried weighing it down and put a hide on his tub, but he like to be under his paper. The hot spot on top of the paper is 93 right now, so he can't bee too cold and seeking heat... little goofball...

try lightly misting your enclosure before putting the paper in so it sets better.

That's an interesting idea, Rob! Hasn't thought about it. I will try that one when I get home from work!

You still need substrate (at least paper), because you need something to absorb the liquid when he urinates/defecates. Otherwise, he will have to sit in a neasty puddle until you notice the mess.

Yea i would agree with this. I would keep some type of substrate in there to soak up messes bc if ur snake just sits in it your asking for trouble.

I mist my paper down before puting them in as well. It works 99% of the time,, but I have one like yours that always manages to get under it.

Eh, I was mostly just kidding. I would use the paper anyway, even if it is just because he seems to like it being there for him to hide under. My other boy is just fine with it, he's even more active than Jacks, but he hasn't gotten under his paper. Or even messed it up as much as Jacks manages to do. Thanks for the advice, I will mist when I clean today and see how that works.
