The only real reason I didn't want to deal with shipping is because I had a bad experience once with shipping a tarantula. It arrived to me dead but that was using USPS and I understand that snakes get shipped via Fed-Ex or something else that is better. So I can tough it out. =)

I still have time to make my decision. hehe No rushes.
I would start with females over males. You can spend the summer looking for an outstanding female pastel and give her a year to grow and look for your male next year. Nice male pastels are easier to find people because most people aim for multi-gene males, such as a bumble bee or lemon blast, so you could probably find a nice one at any time.
