I posted on the yahoo link... I was post 2000.... I am personally against every invasive species, cats, dogs hogs, and reptiles..... they dont belong here. But people need to understand that this legislation is doing nothing to fix the problems it says it addresses, only cost working Americans money

Ok hete goes. And i am sure some of you will take this the wrong way but the bottom line is we all know this ban is not the answer. But there is a problem. The problem is our fault. I know none of you released animals. But as an industry coming together to fight this ban we have to take responsibillity as an industry. These pythons didnt mysteriouslly wander from africa to florida. If people released them then as the reptile community we have to take responsibillity for those bad apples among us. The hurricane yes was an act of god but those reptile facilities should have taken better steps to protect the animals in case of damage and potential release. As a community we have to take responsibillity for that as well. We cant be sitting on our soap boxes and screaming its not our fault. Instead of donating all this money to usark why not take a little bit of it to help deal with the problem created by those idiots in our circle. I know its a hard pill to swallow but we have to take responsibillity for what happens. We cant just have the good and ignore the bad. Now i know this article from yahoo is flawed in so many ways. Also the fact that frosts in 2010 killed off a huge percentage of the invasive pythons but the public outside of the reptile world are scared. We have had serious issues in this country with invasive species such as hogs and the one that really got things crazy, the snakehead which was a direct result from releasing into the water systems. Now the snakehead will never be able to be controlled. Now we have to deal with them. If everyone in the reptile community keeps saying its not our fault then how can we expect for the public to look at us as responsible reptile owners?

Pythons apparently wiping out Everglades mammals

I know this has been talked about many times but here is another one dated today.

I just don't know how scientific this is:
For the study, researchers drove 39,000 miles along Everglades-area roads from 2003 through 2011, counting wildlife spotted along the way and comparing the results with surveys conducted on the same routes in 1996 and 1997.
    Here's the full story

I'm sure there is a problem but this is the stuff that causes the government to come in and decide on a blanket law banning everyone from having any constrictors regardless of how responsible some are compared to others.
