they prefer a tight fitting hide that is touching them all round when they get in, too big is not ideal you will be surprised what a blood can fit into or through for that matter

Also with bloods you want a heavy hide light plastic ones will just get thrown around like plastic furniture in a kids room trust me. You are better with clay or ceramic type plant pots over turned with an opening created artificially imo they are less likely to be tipped over and feel more solid for the snake to hide in.

When they get to this size though it gets harder to stop them tossing stuff around.
