Yes, a fuzzy or crawler mouse would be the right size for a 35 gram baby. (I have had a few hatch out that size, from small eggs).
If it doesn't eat within a few days, given its size and condition, I would assist-feed a pre-killed fuzzy mouse.
There aren't a whole lot of fat reserves on a 35 gram baby, and it could go downhill quickly without nutrition.

Added security aspen allows them to burrow which is not the case of other bedding, make sure you downsize to a 6 quarts tub as well, 15 quarts is huge for such a tiny hatchling, good luck.

The last rescue I had was 31gm (4 months old) so being sold as a healthy hatchling... seems a stretch the little one I had ate pinky mice and they seemed big but size according to weight of girth mine is doing really well but still is quite small for her age. If you can believe the breeder (???) a fecal maybe in order parasites MIGHT account for the size. I think it a long shot but in combination? who knows.

Here she is... And actually she looks a LOT better today, yesterday her skin was foldy and with her being so tiny, I thought she must be skinny and underfed. With her looking so much better today I'm guessing she was just dehydrated from the trip. She also pooped, which means she's been eating. The seller told me she was born on November 28th. I asked for weight records but he said he doesn't keep those... I did get a 6 qt tub set up with Aspen bedding for her.

She's gorgeous! My first snake Maru was 25g when I got him and a fuzzy mouse was huge for him, but he got it down. He's also alive and kicking. Has anyone ever noticed these runt bp's are extra glossy and really clean at hatching?? sorry to derail the thread. Seems like everything is already on track so nothing to add really. Soft furs are my secret weapon when it comes to runt bps, they can't resist a live fuzzy ASF. Granted those aren't always the easiest to get... best of luck with the snake, I must say again she is REALLY nice looking, and I think if she's pooping, she should pull through. Again, good luck. I agree, I would use paper towels and leave the snake alone for a few days at least before offering a small fuzzy rat or a mouse hopper.
You might also offer a small hide with only one small hole to enter, added security doesn't hurt.
Beautiful little snake

Looks pretty good, I don't see any signs that she's not healthy. Maybe just a tiny hatchling. She can't have eaten too MANY meals, though, given her size.

Looks ok to me, if she doesnt take food just give her a few days to settle in without messing with her.
Either put her in a smaller enclosure or give her a small hide to feel more secure.
I do agree with paper towels myself as substrate.
She is a very glossy good looking girl.
