finally burned out, time to change things up and get back to my love of the hobby

Ok so after close to 20 years of reptiles and 15 years with balls im so over it. Im over chasing the next big thing or trying to produce this and that with some success and some failure. Im over having so many different morphs to work with and having to overthink breeding plans. Im over the entire deal. Its time to go back to doing it for the love of the animal and not trying to keep it as a side buisness. So im deciding to work with one morph that has always been my favorite. The bee. I love the bee and all the bee combos. I would feel so much better just working with bee combos then having my hands in so many cookie jars. Call it stupid, call it mid life crisis call it crazy but i just want to work with one specific thing and something i know i can always sell with no problems.

Ive always thought this would be a cool idea for breeders to do. Work on producing one morph, hold back the very best animals you produce and keep refining it until youre producing a line of one morph so nice you may even be able to name it. The only thing I think might be bad is having a straight family tree. I think I have heard thats its a good idea to mixup the bloodlines every couple of generations. I applaud you and wish you luck producing some nice bees!

didn't you have something interesting in your freezer not too long ago? and ostensibly the means and genetics to reproduce it?

Yea burnout is no fun at all. The way i look at it i would rather work with what i want and still be able to.sell em easy then work with higher end stuff and waiting on the right price. I guess its the whole buisness side of the industry im over. I guess its my own fault. When i got started it was for the money even though ive always loved snakes, and i was buying and selling, importing, wholesaling before i even started breeding. With that comes overhead and not to mention keeping up with my rat house and rat production. Scaling back a bit and working with my favorite morph is the way i can appreciate it more.

I'm focused on one project, pieds.

Pieds are why I fell in love with ball pythons. Pieds are why I took the bull by the horns and decided to give breeding a try. Pieds and pied combos are my main focus. Of course, there is the opportunity to make a few nice combos on the side. But my main focus is strictly pieds.

I decided early on, it would be way too easy to let myself get pulled in so many directions at once I'd go crazy. So I'm sticking with what I love, and letting the rest pass me by. Sure some of those 5 and 6 morph combos are unreal, but if I can consistently produce 4 or 5 pied morphs, I'll be happy.
