New here, Azanthic Killer Bee

Okay, so forgive me in advance if anything here is incredibly dumb sounding, But im no reptile let alone python pro, i know very little of breeding or much overall, im just here to learn and find myself a start to breeding, and a, i hate to say it "Pet". Ive always been obsessed with pythons, Theyre absolutely gorgeous no matter what, But recently i came across a photo of an axanthic killer bee, and holy crap i just might die if i cant find one for myself. So My questions are, 1. Is there anyway i could purchase one,(however slim the chances may be), or 2) Get a pair of snakes to start breeding for one myself. Granted as i said im new to almost everything, but im desperate to learn. I Would love to purchase an axanthic killer bee, and then later down the road, when my knowledge has grown, attempt at breeding myself. Either way, get back to me, as i said, i apologize for any dumb questions, or idiocy i may have supplied. I live in Ohio if that affects anything.

I haven't seen any for sale, but I'm also not cruising the market all that often these days. The genetics are pretty simple: Super pastel, spider, axanthic. Theoretically you could get a pastel axanthic female, grow her up for a couple years, and then by that time be able to acquire a bee het axanthic male for a decent price (or vice versa). You avoid the possible het offspring this way, and have a 1/16 shot at an axanthic killer bee

Hmm, okay. I had read somewhere on here That i could Go bumble bee x Super pastel and have a 1/4 chance at killer bee. Or bumble Bee x Lemon blast and have a decent chance at killer bee and some other ones as well. But say I wanted A Bumble bee het. Axanthic, what would be the price on one? And forgive me if this is a rookie question, but in terms of pythons specifically is there a difference between male or female, aggressiveness i guess youd say? Or if it would be better to get the bumble bee het axanthic male or female?

This is true, but killer bee is simply super pastel spider, no axanthic in the mix.

Prices vary from breeder to breeder, and if you want quality animals you'll have to pay for it. TOTALLY worth it though. Male or female makes no difference in temperament, ball pythons are ball pythons. Females get larger than males, 'bout the only difference I see in my collection. If you have other breeding plans then it might be beneficial to plan what morph is male and what is female according to that

hmm, i assumed that would be the case. I need to find a reputable breeder then it seems. i think Ill try to get the bumble bee (het. axanthic?) as my female, and my super pastel, or lemon blast, or axanthic pastel, whichever male.

Haha, yes, genetics can be pretty confusing at first. What's making it a little complicated is that axanthic is a recessive gene. Basically makes the snake black and white. This means you can have a bumblebee het axanthic, and it looks just like a normal bumble bee but carries the axanthic gene. Breed it to a pastel axanthic (black and white pastel) or a pastel HET axanthic (normal looking pastel, but has axanthic gene) you have chances at an axanthic killer bee.

There are also normal killer bees (super pastel spider). No recessive genes involved, so they're easier to produce. I'd suggest taking a look around worldofballpythons.com and check out their morph list and such. For each designer morph they list they also have the base morphs to the left and whether they are recessive or dominant/codom genes. The more you read/browse on here too the better idea you'll have of what produces what

Just remember that both the male and the female have to be either het axanthic or visual axanthics to get axanthic babies.

Also, there are different lines of axanthic and they are not all compatible. You will will need to make sure both the male and the female carry the same axanthic line, otherwise youll end up with a lot of double hets and no visuals.

That would just give you an axanthic bumblebee. Killerbee isnt possible because only one parent has the pastel gene.
