Should I worry if my bp doesn't shed?

Okay so I've had Baloo for almost 3 months now and she still has not shed. Before you ask, yes, I have watched the temps and humidity. Ambien temp is 79-80F. Thermostat is set at 88F and the humidity stays between 60-65%. The viv is insulated, I have a UTH and have a small bowl of water kept over the heat pad to maintain humidity. She is sweet and friendly, eats well, and shows no sign of illness but still has not shed. Should I be worried?

I wouldnt worry, they can shed a month after they have just shed or they can go months. I would only worry if he went through all the shed phases and then did not shed and his skin started to shrink wrap him (in that case you would need to soak him in a tube of water to help him get the skin off). He will shed when he needs to. I wouldnt worry.

Thanks I didn't know they could go for months. There is an excellent thread, in here, that shows the different stages of shedding and I've been watching for signs but so far nothing. I thought she might be getting ready about a month ago but other then looking a bit dull she never developed any of the symptoms.

I have a baby corn snake that sheds consistently every month and the signs are very obvious when it starts but not with Baloo. It's amazing how different they are.

How old is your ball python? A young snake that is still growing should shed every 4-6 weeks, while a full grown adult will only shed a few times a year.

How often do you feed her, how big are the rodents that you feed her and how often does she actually eat?

And how much does she weigh?

I don't have a scale yet so not sure on the weight but she eats a small adult mouse once a week. Here is the most recent pictures of her.

Re: Should I worry if my bp doesn't shed?

Some grow faster and some grow slower, you cant really put a time frame on sheds. Ive had younger ones shed every 2 months and every month, I have 4 year olds that shed every month and a half and some go 3 months, it just depends on the snake. You'll know when your snake is about to shed, they will look bluish and have clouded over eyes then they will go back to normal looking and shed, this can take a couple days or a couple weeks depending on the snake. If your snake is well hydrated and the humidity is fine you shouldnt have any problems, worst that could happen is he will have some stuck shed in which case you can just soak him for a 5-10 minutes and it will come off.

She looks fine, the only thing that I could think of that would keep her from shedding would be that she wasn't getting enough food, but she looks great. I wouldn't worry about her not shedding. She'll get there when she's ready.
