Wondering what else to get
I am not sure what else I need for my BP. I won't be getting it for a couple months but I want to be sure I have everything first.
Here is what I have so far on my list:
12qt sterilite tub for a baby BP
Temp gun
Thermostat
Heating Pad
Piece of wood in case it wants to climb
two hides
soldering iron (don't know why I dont have one yet I have tarantulas and make my own enclosures. lol)
I don't know what size water dish to get but that will be on my list just need an idea of what size to get for a baby and what kind should I get?
I also need to get something to put the tub on that won't get too hot. I'm thinking maybe a metal rack? That can't catch fire can it? I'm kind of afraid of fire soooo anything that will NOT catch fire with the heat pad would be nice. =)
Anything else I should need? Besides of course the food and the snake.
I have tons of newspaper that I can use as a substrate for now.
Thanks,
Amy

I use ceramic crocks like this one:

It is 4 inches in diameter and will be big enough for a hatchling. I use progressively larger dishes of the same style as my snakes get bigger.
If properly regulated your UTH shouldn't get too hot, but a metal rack would be a good (but probably unnecessary) precaution Before I got my Animal Plastics Cages I put my tanks and tubs on pavers. This did 2 things, first it protected the tables from getting too hot, and since the pavers held heat pretty well they acted as a heater in the case of a short power outage (< 30 minutes) Living in Florida in the summer I get lots of short power outages from storms.

Re: Wondering what else to get
Thanks, I would have to get something to put it on because I don't want to put it on the floor and that's pretty much the only place I could put it.

Just to clarify, you're using a reptile-specific UTH (heating pad) right? Not a human one?

I would suggest that you use Flexwatt, it is cheaper and I have found that it works better.
You can get it from a website called reptile basics
here is a link, and another link that will give you all of the information you will ever need on flexwatt

Flexwatt works exactly like any other UTH, you stick it to the bottom of the tub and plug it into a thermostat. The Thermostats probe is placed on the flexwatt, and it heats your tub.

No problem. Looks like you got all you need. Only thing I may add to the list (except, of course, the water bowl you're inquiring about), is a set of those bungee cords. I think they're usually found in the automotive/hardware section of stores. If you want to be super duper extra sure the tub is closed all the way, you can wrap one of those around it.
As far as the water bowl goes, 3-4" diameter for a hatching should be fine.

I actually found a tip-proof plastic cat bowl (pretty sturdy, actually and not thin enough plastic that the weight of a snake could crush it) at Wal-Mart for... 3 dollars, I think, to use for a water dish. I bought a couple small, cheap metal bowls that fit inside perfectly just so I can toss one in the dishwasher and not have to worry about leaving the snake without water because I just switch out to the already clean one. (The one I have I found with zebra stripes but the other ones I saw had cat pawprints and stuff on it, but you could always decorate to suit your needs.)
The bowl's out in the trunk of my car (since I have no snake yet but I have everything for it except for a temp gun and a scale which are soon to be on the way as soon as I get the money) otherwise I would take a picture of it for you. Plus it's 1 AM and freezing cold outside. If I could have found a nice, small ceramic dish (the only ones I found were 7 or inches in diameter) I would have used that but I think the dish I found might actually work better because there's no way to tip it unless they get under it and lift and I can always bury it in the substrate so it's resting right on the bottom of the tub.
