Those are smaller than I would use. For adults I would go with a 8" or larger if you want them to be able to soak in it. if you are only using the crock as a water source a 5 will be more than enough.
If you change out the water dish during shed then it doesn't really matter how big of a dish you use the rest of the time providing that your humidity levels aren't too low.

just out of curiosity, how exactly does the 4in pvc coupling prevent spills?, ive seen it used but idk exactly how it stops the snake from spilling the water.
