Off feed question
I have a female cinnamon that has been off feed for almost 5 months now... She used to be one of my best feeders, but now she never eats. Sometimes she has no interest in the offered rodent at all and other time she will act as if she wants the rodent and will strike it but not constrict it, she will strike over and over again until she starts to hiss and get angry, thats when I remove the rodent and wait a week before trying again. I'm not too worried because over the off feed period she has not lost any weight, she still remains around 1200g. Any advice?

Re: Off feed question
I am by far not an expert but those strikes sound like defensive strikes. Your snake seems to be stressed out. Could you provide us with more information about your setup, temps, humidity, what type of prey you are offering, live or f/t.

5 months isn't a REALLY long time. Sarabi went off for anywhere from 10-18 months. So you should be okay..

I know its not too long of a time period, I was hoping to breed her this season, but I've decided to wait until next year because I though she would have got up to 1600g by now if now going off feed. I'm pretty sure she will eat when shes ready, it just sucks worrying about when she is going to eat again.
I keep her in a rack of 41 qt tubs of aspen with a large hide on the warm spot of 85 drgreesF with a 5 degree differential and the water tub at the other end, and spay down every other day to keep the humidity around 60 to 70. Same for all my balls and the rest of them are fine. I offer live small rats and mice.
