The quantities really don't matter too much as long as you can cover the caps. I usually do 2 caps in a ziploc bag in the fridge, and flip 'em every now and then. I've done as little as 2 hours and as long as 8, doesn't make a huge difference either way.

Grill the caps just like beef. Butter and toast some burger buns on the grill. Melt a bit of cheese to the underside of the caps (facing upwards). Serve with tomato and spinach.

Yes you can have butter, cheese, and delicious flavors, and still lose weight. Just don't be too generous on the portions! This above meal is best served with sides of delicious veggies. I like to fry chopped broccoli, onions, and zucchini in olive oil and kikkoman soy sauce, with a bit of ground pepper.
This is great! I'm not a fan of mushrooms, but this sounds delicious.
I'll give it a try sometime. Thanks!

    Add me to the campaign.

I desperately need to lose weight, my high blood pressure and erratic pulse are not helped by the extra pounds I'm carrying.

So here goes. I swore I'd never reveal the truth about my weight in public, not even my husband knows the awful truth. Right now I am sitting at 207. I once said if I ever hit 200 pounds I'd shoot myself. So I lie. A lot. But enough is enough. If I can't do it alone, I can do it with the help of my dearest and best friends in the whole world, my fellow snake junkies here at BP.

I promise, if I lose 20 pounds, I'll donate $20 of my own money to charity. Here's to a brand new me!

I'm in too...even though theres already more than 4 people. My senior year in highschool (2006)I was 6'2'' 170....and my freshmen year of college I was 205....dang you Dr. Pepper and Resses Pieces! I'm about 205-210 now, and keep telling myself to go back to the gym. I joined in December at $30 a month and I havent gone but 3 times, its money down the toilet! My plan is to get down to 180, and then start trying to pack on muscle.

I'm in... I know you've got the necessary 4 additional, but I will also pledge to donate a dollar per pound I lose between now and July 1st.

I can fluctuate 5 lbs from one day to the next, so I try to weigh in at the same time of day, same day of each week. I've been weighing in on Friday mornings before work, so I'll try to remember to update an official number here tomorrow. As of now, I'm 5'10" and 218 lbs.

Re: Lose 20lbs and help BP.net!!

Good luck. I'm not an expert but I have a lot of exercises, stretches, drills, and nutritional information, tips, and recipes. I'm a rookie at snake husbandry but if you need some advice on this topic I'd love to help, I'm far from new. At least that way I could be giving back. I'm not certified by anything but my workout partner is a NASM certified master trainer, if you need certified advice. 20 lbs is a great goal so while I won't join you on losing 20 lbs, I'll join you in donating $20 at summer time. Hopefully I didn't come across as a bragger, the intention was to come across as a resource if needed.
If you don't want any of my advice, I know where I can stick it
If you do feel free to pm me.
Other than that, again, good luck and I'll be breaking my back with you!

Re: Lose 20lbs and help BP.net!!

I need all the motivation I can get I had already planned to lose a considerable amount of weight by summer so I think this will help motivate me. I think the donating to charity is also a good idea so I pledge to donate $1 to a charity for every pound I lose. I started 2 weeks ago so I am going to use that starting weight of 347lbs. I am currently at 339lbs. I plan to be below 300 by summer.

Here's a few tips from my own experience:

Keep your goal reasonable in the long-term. If you're having an easy time with not gaining weight at 265, and you think you can maintain a regimen that will keep your weight at 245, that's a good goal.

Back in september I weighed 184, the most I've ever weighed in my life. With a new job, a slightly more active lifestyle, and an increased interest in cooking rather than eating as much junk food, I dropped down to 172-174 (depending on the day) in a month or so. I wasn't planning on losing weight, but I was doing all the right things to make it happen anyways.

I've kept those 10+ pounds off since.

I still grab a bag of candy, chips, or whatever sometimes. I haven't kicked anything out of my diet completely just because it's calorie dense.

It's just the lifestyle changes that made a long term difference. These kinds of changes aren't easy to keep up with, but if you make 'em realistic you'll see a difference in that number on the scale after some time!

Pan-sear a tuna steak (RARE is best!), I season a bit but not heavily.

Slice it into long thin strips.

Make tacos with spinach, any other veggies you want, a bit of cheese, and homemade guacamole.

Just don't eat five of them, and it's a great meal. As always, serve with veggies. I find that this pairs well with a side of "fajita topping" veggies.. onions, bell peppers etc.

I'll be lighter in the summer and heavier in the winter. It sucks. I wish I could just stay at a constant weight (the lighter one preferably).
