Looks good! I would think about getting a bottle that hangs inside the cage though, ASAP.

I set up some rats like that and they had literally chewed through the container that very same night.

I would take out the Pepsi can. They can injure themselves on it.

I agree, looks like a siamese and himilayan. Your bottle set up is fine though, I don't know why the other poster urged you to get a different one.

However, your bin looks not so good. You cannot keep them in a bin like that.
Your bin has no ventilation. You need to cut out a large portion of the plastic and replace it with wire mesh, or your rats will die, or get very very ill.

You can see my rat bin here. The side, that you can see, as well as the entire top is cut out and replaced with mesh. This is a must, you cannot go without ventilation for them.

EDIT: And definitely get rid of the pepsi can.
You probably should have researched basic rat care before taking on 2 free rats, but for now, please make the changes we are asking you to, for their health.

I agree with the Himi and Siamese gene's, I also highly suggest if you want them to live you find a better home for them, they will get sick without ventilation.

I didn't mean the bottle itself was not good, I just mean when I got my very first rat I mounted the bottle outside of the container like that and they were able to chew around where the drinking tube went in, and they escaped.

I would also suggest knowing their sexes. Because If there's a boy and girl you are going to have way more rats in a very very short time. If there is a pair I would grab another set up and separate them.

    Re: 2 new free rats!

I use 56 quart tubs And have no problem. BUT I also drilled about a total of 80 holes in each ob in the top And sides. I must have good rats... they don't chew. Lol

I do myself however plan on doing the wire mesh later on. Just haven't had a lot of spare time lately.

Drilled holes are not adequate ventilation for rodents.
