I wouldn't say they are fearmongering, but its not necessarily good either.

I think we should flood their inbox with video clips of us being responsible reptile keepers and how we feel about the whole Everglades situation.

    Re: Great, more fearmongering

The whole situation is blown out of proportion in my opinion. I wish people would do their research and not flood the news about the snakes invading, whats done is done. It is to late to change. When people see those kind of shows, most people arnt going to say "Oh no, what can I do to save southern Florida?" They are more likely to be intrigued and want to purchase one of the big species.

I am no expert, but can young juveniles even survive freeze overs or a Florida winter? It isnt an extreme constant cold. But it seems cold enough to kill off most of the young un-established snakes, right? So the populations could never really flourish to the etremes people like preach about, correct me if im wrong please.

From what I've heard, the cold is taking quite a toll on the snakes down there. Animals are dying from the cold but not all of them. SOME survive the winter by chance and survive to reproduce the following season.
