    Shredded newspaper?

Currently using newspaper (uncut) as substrate. Was wondering if it is safe to shred the newspaper with a shredder and use it instead. Would there be humidity issues or dust within the enclosure? Would really appreciate your input.

    Re: Shredded newspaper?

I used shredded paper for a long time, I generally shredded junk mail ect... I can tell you that it works ok, but if it gets wet it will make this nice paper mache kind of stuff, and is a pain in the butt to clean. I went from shredded paper back to newspaper. Another problem with shredded paper is mold
