Re: viper!...boa
my girl is going on 2 year soon as long as you keep high humidity and don't mess with them to mush there not bad to keep. Fair warning if you want a snake that moves around viper boas are far from that only time i see her move is when she smells food and thats not often due to there low metabolism. she will get nice and deep in the substrate and sit there for days.
And as far as breeding i think ill be picking up a male next year and give it a shot

Re: viper!...boa
Yes I picked up 9 of these guys and gals from a wc shipment and picked another from a local store. I am looking to try to breed successfully. with all other breeders I have talked to they have had more then 90% die within the first 6 months. I think the main issues are the food source: trying to get them on mice or rats first. We searched for their food sources in the wild and found these babies will go after frogs and small lizards. So I think the ideal thing to do is to get a small population of strictly water based frogs, and say house geckos together and have some frozen and live. Then when attempting rats/mice doesn't work you can try the live frogs/geckos since this is what they would be typically eating in the wild. Just MHO. I have mine in a rack system with the only opening for light to come is at the front and on coconut husk medium courseness and mixed with terrarium dirt the ground up coco type. This is kept pretty damp and humid, shallow water dish just enough for them to be submerged and able to just poke their heads up and grab food. These guys eat and sleep in the water. Again all this is what has worked for me, also all my snakes were wild caught except one of them, they did eventually all switch to frozen/thawed rats. Have fun guys

I saw a male and female for sale in my local petstore once. I asked to see them (since they were buried deep in the subsrtate hiding) and held one. It was very docile and curious, crawled right up my arm. That was the female i think, the guy said the male wasnt as friendly but still handable. They were cool looking snakes but their colors were dull brown which doesnt exactly appeal to me lol. They both seemed pretty small though, idk much about them though so maybe they dont get that big?

I like the contrast of the orange/red bellies on some of them. Very interesting snakes

I don't keep viper boas in particular, but keep other Candoia.
There are (or is) albino viper boas. Albinos Unlimited Inc, recently imported an albino and posted a pic of it on the Candoia forums on Kingsnake.
If anyone's having trouble keeping them you can send me a pm and I can send you a care sheet. I recently wrote and submitted an article for publication up against a PhD writing an article on them (cross your fingers )

Thread has been dead for 1+ years.
First post.
Post really only stating "hey look at these animals for sale!" and nothing else.
Ad was posted only yesterday.
Why can't I shake this feeling that you're the seller?
