Another temp question. Blue vs. Red???

Another question..... At night I have my blue light above and the Uth directly under the log where he sleeps, but still the temp right inside the log is still between 78 and 82. Does he need more heat during the night?? Would a red lamp vs the blue make a difference?? I know my blue one doesn't give off near as much heat as my white one.

Blue to red to purple, it's the same amount of heat USUALLY, just the bulb shape is how it is distrusted. I'll let someone with more knowledge explain that though.

to the 78-82, mine are between 80-84 at night. i've been told they're a little higher then most, but they seem comfortable and regulate there so it should be okay.

The color of the light has nothing to do with how hot it gets. The difference comes in the wattage of the bulb and wether or not there is a reflector that amplifies the light or not.

Red lights are better because they disturb your snake less, but as far as temperature is concerned it shouldn't matter red or blue.

Your snake needs one side of the enclosure to be between 88 and 92 degrees and the other side needs to be between 78 and 82 degrees all the time. How hot is the UTH? And is it regulated by a thermostat?

I haven't gotten a regulator for my Uth yet so I just piled a bit of substrate then his log over it so the heat has a long way to travel before it gets to him.... and I've only been heating the side he sleeps on at night with a blue light and Uth so he and I can sleep. Is that wrong??

It doesn't matter how the temperatures are achieved as long as one side is between 88-92 and the other is between 78-82. They need these temperatures 24/7

Sorry guys I'm so new at this. My other snakes were SO different :{ so right now I have two 75 watt heat lamps and an unregulated uth heating my 30 gallon tank (I know it's to big). One has a white bulb the other has a blue. During the day I keep one side around 85 but with a 90+ degree hot spot while on the other side keeping it about 78. During the night I turn off the white light and keep the blue light and the Uth on keeping his sleeping log at about 80-84. Right above his sleeping log I have a thick vine closer to the lamp for a warmer place if he needs it. Is that an ok routine or no??

If 80-84 is the hottest the tank is at night that isn't ok.

I would replace the blue light with this:

The 75 watt will be the best. I use to use these as my only heat source 24/7

I'm confused... how is 80-84 not okay at night... Most care sheets say 78-82 (average)

Ball pythons should not have a night drop. It is completely unnecessary.
