Infrared Quarts Heaters. Anyone Use them

Just made the switch today when found one on sale tonight.

Been using a Kenwood Oil filled radiator which did a good job but there was cold spots all over and un even heating if ceiling fan was off.

Well after one cycle the room heated up very well and evenly top to bottom. Second cycle came and that was 45 mins ago, and it hasnt kicked back on since, wheres the radiator would of.

This one was on sale for 128 out the door and will heat 500-1000sq ft.

Sweet. I was checking them out at Lowes a few months ago. Is it safe to place against the wall? My biggest gripe with the oil heaters is how much floor space they take up.

They just need enough room from the back to suck in the cool air. Says at least 3 feet off the wall, but that can be adjusted to your likings im sure. If it has plenty of air flow going in, youll be fine.

Im loving this thing, hardly kicks on now compared to the Radiator one

Well its been hour now and still not cycled back on. Temps are 78.8-80.8f from ceiling to floor.

Needless to say very sastified with the results

Re: Infrared Quarts Heaters. Anyone Use them

My father got one for his house this year and it is amazing. Says it heats up to 1,000 square feet, which is right around what his ground level is, and it works incredibly well...heats the whole floor evenly and without running constantly. In the 2 months he's been using it, he says there's not a bit of difference in his electric bill either. Definitely on my "must have" list for next winter.

Check walmart.com if you dont have a meijer local.

They ahve nice ones under 160. This thing is amazing and worth it. Easier on the electric bill, and easier to run off generator on the low setting. Only turning on once an hour here is impressive. The oil radiator kicked on about 3 times a hour.

I vaguely remember an overhead quartz heater in a cold workshop at a place I worked long ago. It basically heated objects, not the surrounding air. How do these quartz room heaters manage to differ from that?

These are heating the air that passes though the quartz element chamber. Then blown out evenly to heat top to bottom.

They cycles are a little long than i want, as it just kicked off cycle 3 and it stopped at around 82. Wish it would stay around 80. Might test it out on 79 temp and see how that works.

    Thanks for the review.

I like the oil filled simply for the safety factors. With the quartz, is there any exposed heating coils? Or is that all internal? Could pet hair get sucked through it?

The heater has a filter on the back that stops anythign from getting sucked into it. Which si washable with warm water.

The heating element is inside you cant touch it and the unit only hits a surface temp of 85F.

The radiator would hit temps of 150F in some spots. This is by far more safe than the oil radiator.
