One of the biggest things to losing weight is watching your calorie intake, everybody has a "maintenance" amount of calorie intake (the amount of calories to maintain current weight) so simply put, eat about your mainanence level of calories or slightly lower and do cardio (running, biking, ect, as well as weight training if your like for a little extra tone) and you will see weight loss. In about 2 weeks i lost +/- 4Lbs because I ate about 200 calories less then my maintenance and did a decent amount of cardio and weight lifting. Proper diet plays a big factor to weight loss, just because you eat a salad doesnt mean its healthy. (most people, I used to do it myself) use wayyyyy to much dressing, the serving size of most dressings is 2 tablespoons. (there are other examples as well)
Along with my diet I too have cut soda completely out and way back on alcohol. it helps, thats for sure
- This is veeeerrrryyyyy true. I spend just as much time on www.bodybuilding.com (they have a good forum section as well) as I do this website.
Also, www.myfitnesspal.com is a great website (and smart phone app) that allows you to log your food intake and help you count your calories and such (you can set it up for your goals as well and it changes your allowed calories, I.E. 1 pound loss 2 pound loss, and even gains.)
Good luck on your weight loss, remember, weight is just a number, and it shouldnt be the staple of your goals, desired results should be!
EDIT: Another thing I forgot to mention, something that helps me TONS is I make my daytime meals the night before (i prefer 5 smaller sized over 3 larger) that way I can take time to put the appropriate stuff in. That way im not rushing in the morning and grabbing whats easier/pre-made (the junk food)
