Orange Baby?
Two of the babies in the litter are all orangey.

I only looked at them briefly, but they also appear to have less hair than the other babies?
The dad was a tan rex, and the mom is a tan with regular coat.

Nope, they are just a very light solid tan.

The orange babies also seem skinnier than the others. I wonder if this is some kind of nutrition deficiency?

A friend of mine says that she had this happen before with a tan female that she bred to a tan male, and that the babies didn't make it to adulthood. I wonder if this is a genetic defect linked to coat color?

My Siamese litters always have a few of those same orangey babies...they're hairless.

Personally I think they're kind of gross looking. Well, if they survive I will keep them to see how they differ from the other rats as adults.

Beige color is from the recessive red eye gene diluting a black rat to beige.
The rat(s) look sick, malnourished and are probably runts, they look way behind their siblings.
Orange rats are called fawns and genetically they are agouti that is diluted with the red eye gene.
While beige rats have red eyes fawns have rats have ruby colored eyes.
There is nothing genetically wrong with fawns, this is a female fawn that is nursing 11 het dwarf kits right now.
