Hey! Im thinking of getting my first ball python and thought the same.....ive narrowed it down to 2 names...... "Kaa" (the snake from the jungle book) or "Sid" .....just cos i like it... so it will be good to see if anyone comes up with any other cool names!!

n just a question for you if you can help me..... where are you putting him? ie, is it somewhere quiet like an upstairs bedroom or do you know if it would be ok to keep him in your living room or dining room?

    thanks

well i keep him in my room, because we dont have another room to spare but its somewhat quiet, but in general i dont think its matters as long as the temperature in the room is well, or nothing can knock the cage down by any animal or children, you know?

I got my first BP a week ago and settled on the name Pablo within a day or so. He (or she, but I'm going with he, lol) just seemed to look like a Pablo. That's how I've chosen all my pet's names (I've got a cat and three dogs as well); just looked up lists of names and picked whichever one they seemed to "look" like.

Pablo does the "squishy" thing too, I think. Whenever I stroke him, I can feel his muscles "do the wave". I've always thought it's just because the feeling is ticklish. He doesn't seem to mind; he doesn't hurry to slither away or anything. :-)

    Code:
    http://languageisavirus.com/pet-names/snake-name-generator.html
A handy name generator found through the power of Google

The three part names sound silly to me, but perhaps you'll find one of the three names generated to be suitable. I prefer to have Biblical associations with snake names, largely due to snakes represented as powerful in the Bible (Satan in the Garden of Eden, Moses and the snake staff, etc). I named my first ball normal Ava, as a variation of Eve that was tempted by a serpent. When I start building my collection, I'll continue to do so. My next male will be named either Solomon or Moses and my next female will probably be Magdalene or Esther. I've always thought Biblical names were pretty. Maybe that's just me

But, my suggestion is simply name him whatever holds the most significance for you. I've read online of people naming their pythons Twinkie and Hoho...because they liked Twinkies and Hohos, lol. Just name him something that will make you think of the snake as more than just a name...but as a child. Sounds weird, but hey...they live for 30+ years. Chances are, I may be dead before my python, haha.

I like to take names from my favorite books. A Song of Ice and Fire (what the Game of Thrones series is based on) has some really good fantasy type names.

    Male names (that I like):

    Selmy
    Bronn
    Jaqen
    Jojen
    Drogo
    Mance
    Belwas
    Syrio
    Varys
