Card counting does take some skill. I think that learning to card count would not be so tough. It just takes a lot of practice. Actually card counting at a casino and getting away with it, on the other hand, is where it gets complicated.

I personally just use the basic strategy when I play, which gives me pretty good odds.

I have no problem exploiting things in games like skyrim that arent multiplayer. If there are cheats that 12 yeat olds use on xbox live THEN it gets annoying lol!

    Re: Gaming Exploitations

Thanks for all the replies. And I don't mind the deviations.

How about this. When I played WoW, I got my butt handed to me in PVP all the time. After watching enough videos I learned that all the good PVPers had expensive custom keyboards and mice (like Razor) that they could preload commands to. In a nut shell, they could do in 1 click or button press what in would take me 4 or 5 to do.

So, do think it's cheating to use high end gear to be a head of the competition?

My take is that if I had the money, I'd do the same thing. I feel if you've earned that kind of money then you've earned the right to spend it on things that make you perform better (even if it's not really you that's better).

That just reminded me of modded controllers. Not just aesthetically but the ones with rapid fire and all sorts of auto features. Where does that come into all of this?

I think it's fair to use, but they should somehow separate those who have that advantage. Like they say "you gotta pay to play". Some people go over the top and get all this gear to be the best, while others play for fun. At the end of the day it's all about w.e floats your boat.

this comment is what makes modded controllers or custom keyboards unacceptable.. however, in tournament or competitive play, if all players were on the same level as far as equipment, and they had to setup their own custom commands, then it doesn't matter to me... that's just strategy..

modded controllers with rapid fire or the double shot/BXR (halo 2) macro buttons are cheap, and should not be used... people get banned for that stuff... lol so obviously it's not okay.

the type 95 is a precision weapon just like the M16 or the MK14. i don't consider this the best weapon lol. I wtfpwn type95 users with any other AR + better accuracy . unless they have focus... which nobody does

    Re: Gaming Exploitations

Re: Single Player games - Go for it if you enjoy it... you bought it to have fun. What sucks for me is discovering the exploits though. For example, in Skyrim I REALLY wanted the Dragonplate Armor. When I realized you could skill all the way up to 100 by making leather bracers that are inexpensive at vendors, it took a lot of the fun out of the game for me. Now when I log in, I can AFK and let mammoths beat on me for 5 minutes and come back and not be dead. The epicness of epic armor comes from the epic journey to obtain it, yes? That's what's most fun for me. I still did it, though... because I NEEDED that armor!

Re: Multiplayer games - I'm strictly against exploits in this case because they have a negative impact on the other players and you're acting outside of the design of the game (a design which also includes interaction/competition with other players).

Re: Naga Mouse and Keybinds - I played WoW at a world ranked level for several years. The game designers can and did adjust the coding in the game to reduce the complexity of binds that are allowed. This shows that they consciously decided these capabilities should be part of the game design. I also played with people at that world ranked level who used a regular mouse and keyboard and the default Blizzard UI. That shows that the advantage the hardware gives is not required to play at the upper-most level.

Re: Counting cards... If the entity losing money is a casino, go for it. They screw people out of money every day. I have a friend whose father is an accountant and a well-respected member of an affluent community. Once or twice a year he flies to Reno, counts cards, and comes back with 10 - 15 k in winnings. Every time. At first I'd say more power to the guy, but one way to check if a given action is moral or not is to imagine the consequence if everyone decided to make said action. While I love to see the casino lose - I ultimately can't say that this is a particularly acceptable practice.

That is cheating. I played as a Gladiator in WoW and in no way was using a multi-function macro on a single key be legal. Now, rebinding keys and setting /use macros was acceptable. As far as exploiting game mechanics, if it's in any sort of single player I think it's perfectly fine. Although, when other players start being involved I don't feel thats fair.

I've decided to put together a list of games I enjoy cheating on, games I occasionally cheat on, and games I've decided to never cheat on again.

    Enjoy cheating on-
Any COD game- Nothing is funnier than a raging 12 year old that you've killed more than 10 times. The Care Package glitches on MW2 were hilarious. Don't have any modded controllers except for paint. Not worth losing everything I've worked for on my XBL profile lol
    Board/ card games

    Occasionally cheat on-
    Skyrim
    Oblivion
    COD Campaign

    Don't cheat on-
Pokemon- Unlimited rare candies, shinies, and being able to have any pokemon at any time with any stats or moves kinda kills the entire game.
Assassin's Creed- I don't even think it's possible to cheat on this lol. But I do enjoy playing around with graphic bugs.

Most of the time I only cheat to have fun with other people that can't control themselves. Usually with friends. If it breaks the game for me, I try to avoid it.
