This is not rocket science. Most people are either afraid of our really dislike snakes. You should know that before you leave the house with a snake.

Most people don't like snakes, or are even afraid of them. Hard to understand for us reptile-lovers, but it's definitely something to be aware of before heading outside with a snake in tow. Some people will come around with a bit of education, but most who are afraid won't. And it's difficult to change people's minds. You want to be careful with stuff like that in case some yahoo decides to rid you of your snake "problem". I don't see a problem with bringing one with you, as long as it's a short trip, so the snake doesn't get too cold or stressed out. But there are people who won't like you and your snake, so you have to keep it in mind.

Yeah, I take my big girls with me places all the time. I do take into account that some people don't like snakes, but I'm also careful to always have a safe place for the snake to go if something happens.

I have many contacts in town, and have many safe places that I and my pets are always welcome. Pet stores included. You have to realize that not everyone loves our hobby. We are a rare breed (though it doesn't seem it here) and not everyone can accept the fact that many people find snakes a desirable pet.

Most people see it as our problem - not theirs.

I'm friends with a manager at my local pet co, I asked him about bringing in one of my balls with me and he discouraged it. Not only because most people are scared of snakes but in the city I live in pet stores can't sell any 'constricting' snakes and I guess they don't like you having them with you. I also don't see a reason to take my snakes on a 45 minute round trip unless they are going to a vet visit. No need to stress them out just to have them in the public eye.
