You have a 25% chance of getting an albino 50% chance of het albino and 25% chance of just normal. Just think that both parents have an A and N gene. Albino and normal. So if you had a clutch of 4 eggs most likely 1 will have and N and N gene which is the normal, 2 would have an A and N genes which would be the hets and 1 would have an A and A gene which is the albno. So it is just that each parent can only give 1 gene and the chance of 1 baby getting both albino genes from the parents is a 25% chance.

Remember you can always get lucky and get more but that also depends on how often you pair them and the size of your girl. The bigger the girl the more eggs she can produce.

Again those are the percentages and are not actual figured results. It comes down to luck and god in the end.

    Re: Het x het??

Genetics are a field I wish to stay out of... A het x het should yield you i think it's like 25% that? or 12% minimal? I was also taught 25% but I've heard others say more and less... This is my advice, breeding is a game of chance, we cant say "hmmm, I want 7 albinos, and 1 regular from this litter of 8 eggs" and get it. In the end it comes down to chance and there genetics. You should get some albino's though.

You'll also get more responses by other people hopefully that put my response to shame and explain it better.

No. You are absolutely positively NOT guaranteed an albino from that breeding. In fact, your chances of getting one are fairly mediocre. Many breeders have had to do het x het breedings for years before hitting on the recessive.

Then again, you could get ALL albinos. It's a gamble.

Each egg has a 1 in 4 chance of being albino. The contents of one egg do not affect the other eggs.

Albino x het albino will give you better odds (50/50), but that still isn't a GUARANTEE.

Albino x albino WILL give you albinos -- guaranteed ... Unless of course your female has retained sperm from a different male, or you're breeding boas or retics in which there is more than one albino locus, or .......

... There are very few guarantees in animal breeding.

    Re: Het x het??

also remember that your chances are for each egg, just cause it says 25% chance of a visual, doesnt mean that a quarter of the clutch will be visual, so there are no guarantees, depending on how much the "odd gods" like you, you may have to pair them for a few years in a row to get your first visual, or you'll get one your first clutch, theres no way of knowing

edit: sepent nirvanas post came up while i was typing mine
