I absolutely love what the fire does as a combo morph. It really cleans up and brightens whatever morph is it mixed with. The only reason I don't have a fire yet is because I didn't find one I liked at the Tinley show!

That's ok ladies, if you are patient and wait a month or 2 I should have plenty of Fires for everyone. LOL I do agree that my favorite trait is the fact that it lightens everything and gets better with age.

Re: Is the fire gene really that great?

My firefly is definetley getting brighter!!! Nothing works better with the pastel gene in my opinion.

Re: Is the fire gene really that great?

Fires are a great "clean up" gene. Not to mention some of the unexpected results of combining it with certain genes (vanilla comes to mind). Personally, I feel there are few genes to work with that have the versatility as the fire. I haven't seen a combo of it that I didn't like.
As far as different lines being better or worse, I don't feel qualified to say for sure. I have 1.1 2011 Super Fires from Mike Wilbanks. I can say that they are both great snakes, and I'm very pleased with both of them. From what I can see on his site, his line has the potential to make some killer combos. But there a lot of lines (RDR just this year confirmed his on line). Some produce solid white supers with black eyes, while others seem to produce more heavily yellow marked supers.
I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the fire lines.
At the end of the day, its a matter of opinion and preference.

Fire is hands down my favorite morph. I think 90% of my future breeding plans involve the fire gene one way or another, I just can't get enough!
